Bright and happy just screams in your face when you get here. Great for a Summer’s lunch. You walk in and you’re greeted by friendly waiters ready to seat you inside this yellow and green restaurant with plants and art all over. Feels like you walk into Summer.
On a nice hot day, it is perfect to start with one of Lexi’s juices. Pretty sure they are all amazing, but the one we ordered was just out of this world. So, say hello to Sweet Cheeks, which is pear, strawberry, and lime. So refreshing and tasty, we ordered seconds as we just couldn’t say goodbye, we had some separation issues with this juice.
We saw a lot of people ordering the Ol’ Beef Burger which looked delicious, and the smell was mouthwatering. But, we decided to get the full experience and go for the mainly plant-based meals. We got the Mixed Mushroom in a low carb wrap, which was filled with grilled smokey mixed mushrooms, sliced radish, sauteéd kale, mixed greens & beetroot. A very different looking wrap, but flavours to write home about, much like what we are doing now. Mushroom is one of our favourite ingredients and they cooked it so well, retaining its mushy flavour and just amping it up with the beetroot. Just fantastic.
With that, we ordered the Omega Punch, which is baked Salmon with quinoa, pickled cabbage, sauteéd kale & butter beans with a lemon-garlic citronette and toasted omega-seed mix. Phew, what a mouthful, and a delicious one at that. Definitely, some of the best salmon we have had in FOREVER. Cooked to perfection and the flavour of it was what real fishermen had in mind when they caught this bad boy. The only problem with this dish was that the rest of it fell flat compared to the salmon. Very vibrant looking dish, but unfortunately not as tasty as it seemed.
We ended our lunch with a well-deserved dessert. Life By Chocolate, a frozen chocolate ganache with a shortbread crumb, sticky caramel and frozen berries. There just are no words. This is a dish you will have to try yourself to understand how good it is. Perfection.
Lexi’s was very busy, and all the waiters were running around like crazy trying to get to everyone. This did cause a bit of absent service, and long waiting times. She was friendly and knew the menu well, which is great, but it felt like there was an extra waiter needed.
UPDATE: We were contacted by Lexi’s and they informed us of the following “ALL our packaging is in fact biodegradable. We source everything from GreenHome or from other sustainable eco-friendly suppliers. Even the smoothie containers, salad bowls etc are all biodegradable.”

It is great to see restaurants that take the environment seriously and do their part with helping Mama Earth survive. Lexi’s have reusable straws which work great, but something we found odd is that the takeaway containers are not so Earth-friendly. We would love to see them make the change to better takeaway packaging.
So happy about this place. More of these types of restaurants need to open in Jozi. Different, out of the ordinary, and specialising in something great. We loved getting lunch at Lexi’s even though it was a bit on the expensive side, but definitely worth it.
TTT recommends you come on a hot Summer’s day and grab yourself a Sweet Cheeks, some needed plant food, and DO NOT forget about the dessert!
