Too often do people not think about themselves. Well, I am here to tell you that it is okay to be selfish once and awhile, really, it is. Caring people tend to care only for others and not themselves, and in doing so, they leave themselves forgotten. It is a sad truth, but sometimes no one will care for you. This is where you come in. Go out and spoil yourself.
Spoiling is not just for anniversaries or birthdays. It is not just for holidays or celebrations. Don’t wait for a Saturday evening or a date night. Do it now.
We got home after work and just never got struck with the cooking mood. It was already 6pm and we were starving. The easy choice would have been to quickly grab some form of fast food that we would’ve probably regret eating right after.
“No more laziness!” we proclaimed. We got into the car and drove into the night, into the unknown, into the abyss. Ok, it wasn’t that dramatic. We just drove down the main road in our area seeing what we’ve always seen. There is this mall quite close to us with a few restaurants that we have always wanted to try. So we parked the car and started walking down the line of restaurants, browsing each menu as we pass them.
Both of us have been in the mood for a good piece of steak for a while now, so the Hussar Grill was a perfect choice. Immediately we were greeted and so started the grand journey to find the correct table, this can take some time…
Phew, we are finally seated.
We weren’t sure what we wanted to drink, so the waiter gave a great suggestion. He brought us a smooth, well-balanced blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that reflect ripe dark fruit, red berries and a hint of spice.
We do like to share a starter, usually some carpaccio, chicken livers, crumbed mushrooms or anything interesting they might have. Tonight we decided on the mussels. We do love ourselves some mussels.
Even though it is a starter, it is a great portion for us to share. It doesn’t help to overeat yourself because then mains won’t be as good and there might not be space left for dessert.
Like I said, we were in the mood for steak, and this place has a wide range of meats to choose from, as well as some amazing sides. Here we go. A lovely medium rare fillet with a pepper sauce was the winner for the evening.
Exquisite doesn’t even start to explain this meal. Everything was cooked to perfection just like we asked for and it was booming with flavour. Top notch.
On to dessert. Can’t do starters and mains and not finish it off with some form of sweetness. A quick scan of the menu indicated that we should try their signature dessert. The Chocolate Vodka Martini.
YUM. There are almost no words. Hot, sweet and kind of toasty. Perfect for a winter dessert.
It was a quick, spontaneous decision for our evening plans, but it was divine. We enjoyed spoiling ourselves a bit.
So go on, spoil yourself.
